Time Strategies

The first article I read was The Myth of "Too Busy" which outlined the way in which shifting your thinking from a schedule that is too busy to one that is well prioritized. I couldn't count on two hands the amount of times a day I say something about being too busy or over committed but in reality, most of the stress I feel in association with having a lot to do doesn't come from the actual tasks at hand, but rather from my lack of strategy to tackle those tasks. The idea of setting up your schedule beginning with what you have to do, then moving to what you need to do, and then adding in the things you want to do resonated well with me.
I then read 3 steps to Recapture Time and what really stuck with me from this article was the art of saying no. Being a performer, it is important that I develop a respectful way to say no to any gigs that aren't furthering my end goal but often my fear of upsetting or disappointing people leads me to take on events that I either have no time or interest in. I also liked the idea of setting aside the first 15 minutes of the day to critically think and set out a tangible list of goals for the day.

Don't let your day run you!
