Reading Notes: Krishna series, Part A

Part A

Kamsa
- Kans is a cruel king who seems to create his demise with his own cruelty
- The goddess pulled a clever trick: moving the pregnancy tricked king Kans
- Krishna = 8th incarnation of Vishnu, interesting that his 8th incarnation was their 8th child

Vasudev meets Yamuna
- Vasudev is able to save his son because of divine intervention: is it his own child willing this or is it the power of another god?
- Awesome Image: The giant serpent parting the great rapids of the river so that Vasudev and Krishna may pass
- haha, the water was only waist deep. now I like that image even more
- he just stole Yamuna's child to save his own. A painful choice in the style of post-morality.

Durga Speaks to Kamsa
- Interesting that the 9th child whom the king thinks is the 8th is a woman. I wonder if the gods willed this on purpose to deceive this wicked and sexist king
- Their baby just turned into the Goddess Durga, so I guess that answers my question
- Fun story idea: Durga should turn King Kans into a woman as punishment for his arrogance
- I can't believe the king left his own sister and brother-in-law to rot in jail after all their children were already born. shows the lengths of his cruelty.
